Romania has seen many people from its land rise to fame. These famous people were mainly in the field of writing and in the field of music. Some of these famous people are Mihai Eminescu, Emil Cioran, George Enescu, Dinu Lipatti and Henri Coanda.
Mihai Eminescu was the best known Romanian poet whose work included love, nature, history and social commentary. Emil Cioran was another eminent writer who had a major influence on the Romanian culture during the two world wars. Though he is from Romania, he studied in Paris in 1937 and since 1947 he has written only in French.
Moving on to the famous Romanian musicians; George Enescu was an all in one musician. He could play violin, piano, he was a composer, a conductor and pedagogue. His music had specific Romanian themes and they were played with deep love blended with professionalism. He was a natural teacher and this is the reason why he was loved and appreciated very much.
Another musician who was very famous for his piano skills was Dinu Lipatti. He was so skilled that Alfred Cortot, a famous French composer had deep appreciation for him. Once in an international competition Alfred Cortot was a jury and Dinu Lipatti was a participant. He was awarded the second place in that competition and Alfred Cortot resigned from the jury as a protest for not awarding Dinu the first place.
Apart from writers and musicians, Romania also has other famous people like Henri Coanda, who performed the first jet propelled flight in the world. He built a plane himself along with a jet propulsion motor and he discovered the Coanda effect which is applied even now in numerous fields.
